Maintenance Services

MOWING AND TRIMMING
Mowing and trimming will occur weekly or or as needed throughout growing season starting on April 1st, and running through November 24th. During this period, the grounds will be cut at regular intervals of no more than 10 days or as needed. We will be using commercial lawn maintenance equipment including from-end cutting machines with a combination of hand mowers. Bagging of clippings can be performed on an as-needed basis. Trimming will be conducted throughout the entire mowing operation through the use of gas-powered weedeaters. Walks and streets are blown clear after our mowing operation.

An estimated 32-36 mowing of the entire area covered by this contract are anticipated. Fewer or more mowing may be required according to grass growth, but in either case, not savings or cost increase will be considered.

The mowing height is very important. We maintain a cutting height during the summer of 2-1/2 to 3 inches. This protects the root system during drought stress and holds down the germination of weeds. Higher mowing heights also reduce insect and disease problems, thus providing a greener turf which is essential for common grounds. This height will be maintained throughout the growing season. Mowers are maintained and blades are sharpened on a daily basis to ensure proper cutting.

SIDEWALK SEAM CONTROL
This service is automatically included with our mowing operation. The price for this service is also included in the mowing price. With this service, walks and streets are often sprayed when weeds appear several times during the growing season. Chemicals such as Paraquet and Roundup are used and care is given not to spray adjacent turfgrass areas.

EDGING
Walkways and curbs can be power-edged during the season at a season requested or recommended rate. Clippings from this operation are swept and blown clear. This service usually begins around May 1st and ends around November 24th.

FALL CLEANUP
Fall cleanup of leaves and debris where heavy accumulation occurs on common rounds can be performed during the months of November and December. One or more cleanups can be included in a contract. (Nov, Dec & Jan)

SPRING CLEANUP
Policing of grounds, removal of leaves and debris usually performed once before the cutting season. (March)

STREET AND GUTTER CLEANING
Monthly sweeping of trees and gutters to remove debris that collects over the contract period. This is a cosmetic addition.

SPECIAL PICK-UP
Loose debris and rubbish can be removed from assigned drop points for the convenience of the homeowners.

Turfgrass Chemical Applications
The following list of products are applied under the supervision of a certified product applicator.

SPRING CRABGRASS CONTROL WITH FERTILIZER
Pre-emergence products such as TEAM applied in combination with a balanced fertilizer 10-6-4 to ensure "green up" and to prevent crabgrass. (March)

TEAM APPLICATION
Straight pre-emergence crabgrass control material without fertilizer is highly recommended for quality weed control. (May)

BROADLEAF WEED CONTROL PLUS
Kills the hard to control weeds of spring and fall. This is a liquid spray with fertilizer to provide greening. (Twice April & Oct)

SPOT WEED CONTROL
Spot applications over the course of the contract to help control outbreaks of undesirable weeds such as spotted spurge, black medic, etc. The applications are usually applied to highly visible areas only. This application is weather dependent. (Twice)

LATE SPRING FERTILIZATION
Light, slow available Nitrogen source to improve lawn quality.

SUMMER LAWN INSECT CONTROL
Diazinon 5G granular insecticide for control of surface feeding insect pests.

OFTANOL GRUB CONTROL
Strong, long-lasting grub control kills Japanese beetle larva and is applied during June through August.

EARLY FALL FERTILIZATION
Heavy application of slow release 20-4-10 or equivalent at a rate of 1.5 pounds of N/1000 square feet. Builds lawn and roots for fall and spring.

LATE FALL FERTILIZATION
16-8-8 quick release, heavy Nitrogen balance N.P.K., the professional choice.

PELETIZED LIME APPLICATION
Mg-Ca Co3 contains micro elements. At 20 to 50 pounds per 1000 square feet neutralizes acids. Lime supplies Ca, an essential turfgrass nutrient.

Landscape Applications

PLANT SPRAYING
A combination of products to control bagworms, mites, aphids and beetles. Sprays are cover type for best insect control. (Twice)

TREE AND SHRUB FERTILIZATION
Jobs tree spikes applied to small caliper trees during the off-season. Granular 10-6-4 plant food for deep root development of flowering and evergreen shrubs.

BED WEED CONTROL
Pre-emergent weed control of annuals only. Helps keep plant beds and tree rings free of weeds. Best when applied during a mulch application, but is effective at any time the weeds are growing.

Plant Maintenance

MULCHING
One or two applications of a shredded hardwood bark is applied to plant beds and tree rings. Beds are edged before applications. Trees are welded to retain moisture and prevent insect encroachment. (Twice)

DRESSING
One or two applications of a shredded hardwood bark is applied This refers to the turning over of existing mulch and redefining beds and tree rings. This is a labor-only service, and does not include adding mulch. This service improves the appearance but reduces expenditures.

HAND WEEDING
Physical pulling of weeds in hard to get areas or ground cover beds.

This operation is restricted to large areas where the machine can be easily moved without damaging pavements or walkways.
